The exploration for and production of oil and gas requires careful engineering management. In addition, the E&P business is a sophisticated business with a long history. Over the years, a specialized and complex body of law has grown out of this enterprise. This short course will review the process for forming and managing contracts, and then turn to some of the key contracts used in oil and gas operations: oil and gas leases, master services agreements, and letters of intent and confidentiality agreements. We will also review disputes that arise in relation to these agreements, and methods of dispute resolution.
