Language Structure Part 1 (Make and Take for Teachers), T&L 2900

Teachers will engage in learning components of our English language -beginning with the BIG 5 from the National Reading Panel findings of 2000(phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension). Letter sequences including blends, digraphs, vowel combinations, and onset/rime will be defined, practiced, and make and take activities will be made and played throughout the class. The 6 basic syllable types will be taught, explained, and make and take activities will be made and played throughout the class. Morphology will be conversed in great detail including suffixes, prefixes, base and root words. Inflectional and derivational affixes will be introduced through the usage of the DDCF approach. Syntax will be discussed including sentence structure and color coding parts of speech.
